Landfill
One day we went to the landfill with Mr. Davis. A landfill is where all of the trash that we use goes. Garbage trucks that come to your neighborhood all come to a landfill. There are 3 of them in San Diego. There are 15 feet of garbage at the landfill. Anything you could possibly imagine is in the landfill. We also went to a small greenhouse. That is where plants grow. They are having trouble with the landfill and the greenhouses. That one common problem are seagulls. They are birds that fly really high (the height of most jets). The birds don't have really good vision. They collide into the jet and crash into the landfill and the greenhouse. That is why they have a solution. Seagulls are protected by the state. They have to drive away the birds in a non-lethal manner. They use extra loud firecrackers. That drives the seagulls away. If that doesn't work, they get a permit from the government and they are allowed to kill a seagull.

Hey. Just giving you some feedback. How was your experience at the landfill? What about the greenhouse place?
